Since it was not easy to find an existing ashtray that fits to their new building, the German Federal Cultural Foundation asked me to design a prototype. I worked with standard industrial material prefabricated in high numbers which I combined with found material and hand crafted elements for this objects. I assembled cut offs from used fire extinguishers, worn out pressure tanks of water heater systems and prefabricated handrail segments, standing on stainless steel feet. Magnets attach the collector underneath the main hood and can easily be emptied. The ashtrays were finally sand blasted and powder coated.
